IMPRESSIONS ON PSYCHOPATHOLOGIES AND THERAPEUTIC RESIDENCIES: RESULTS OF AN INTERNSHIP IN PSYCHOLOGY AND MENTAL HEALTH

Abstract

This report describes the mandatory observation internship of the 6th semester of the Psychology course at Uniensino University. It took place in October 2025 at the institution known as Casa de Apoio Gabriela, a long-term care residence for people with mental illnesses. The main objective was to understand the dynamics of the environment, the functioning of the institutional routine, the interactions between residents and the multidisciplinary team, as well as to identify patient pathologies and their symptoms. The experience allowed for reflection on the challenges of mental health care, the importance of welcoming and building bonds, and the role of the psychologist in institutional contexts.
