THE IMPACT OF PLAY-BASED ACTIVITIES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of play activities on the development of neurodivergent children in the context of early childhood education. Neurodiversity is considered a natural variation in brain function, and the study sought to understand how the intentional use of play favors learning, inclusion, and holistic development. The qualitative research used a literature review methodology, including scientific articles and documents available on digital platforms. The results indicate that play, when planned, contributes significantly to cognitive, affective, and social development. In addition to encouraging communication and interaction with peers, play strengthens bonds and promotes emotional self-regulation. It is concluded that schools and educators should recognize the pedagogical value of play and meaningfully integrate it into educational practices, especially in inclusive contexts.
