Abstract

The teaching of sorting algorithms represents a challenge in Computer Science education, given students’ difficulty in understanding abstract processes. This paper describes an experience carried out in the Data Structures course within a Computer Science Teacher Education program at the University <omitted for review>, in which unplugged computing activities were used to support learning. After theoretical and practical classes, students created physical representations of five algorithms. The research, adopting a quali-quantitative approach, involved observations, a test, and a questionnaire. The results indicate high levels of understanding, engagement, and instructional clarity, suggesting that unplugged activities foster comprehension.
