This article aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Law No. 14,994/2024 in combating domestic and family violence against women, considering the structural factors that perpetuate the problem, the legal aspects of femicide, and the main legislative changes introduced by the new law. The study was carried out through qualitative, descriptive-analytical, and documentary research based on legislation, legal doctrine, case law, and official reports. Legal texts, court decisions, and recent statistical data were examined to understand the impacts of the law on the prevention and suppression of gender-based violence. The results indicated significant advances, such as the establishment of femicide as an autonomous crime, increased penalties, and the creation of monitoring mechanisms and procedural priority. However, structural weaknesses in the protection network, persistent social inequalities, and practical difficulties in implementing legal measures were identified. It is concluded that, although Law No. 14,994/2024 represents an important legal milestone, its effectiveness depends on coordinated actions among justice institutions, public policies, and long-term cultural change.
