Abstract

Work is one of the foundational bases of all stages of Brazilian education; however, greater emphasis is given to Vocational and Technological Education (VTE). Assuming that pedagogues play a fundamental role in the educational structure, this article addresses the initial training of these professionals and the relevance of using work as an educational principle in this process. The text analyzes the Pedagogical Project of the Pedagogy Undergraduate Course (PPC) at the Federal Institute of Brasilia (IFB), aiming to identify connections between the concept of work as an educational principle and the document in question, as well as to highlight possible gaps in the dialectical relationship between them. The study adopted a mixed-method approach through document search. The results indicate that the PPC addresses work as an educational principle, but it is mentioned only in the syllabus of one of its courses, which opens space for analysis of its inclusion in other parts of the curriculum.
