This study analyzes the history, cultural importance, and preservation processes of the Ciranda of Campo de Buraco, located in the municipality of Cumaru, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, highlighting its relationship with the community and the school context, especially the Santo Antônio School. It is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, aimed at understanding the social and cultural meanings attributed to this cultural expression. The methodology included a bibliographic review on popular culture, social memory, and intangible cultural heritage, followed by field research with the collection of oral reports from residents, organizers, and participants, as well as observation of cultural practices. The data were organized and analyzed interpretively, considering the meanings attributed by those involved. The results show that the ciranda is an important element of cultural identity and community sociability, maintained for over forty years through collective participation and intergenerational knowledge transmission. It is also closely linked to the school environment, where children take part in cultural activities, contributing to the continuity of the tradition. It is concluded that the ciranda is a living cultural heritage, essential to the community’s memory and identity.
