This study aims to analyze the role of language as a mediating instrument in the teaching-learning process, with emphasis on Professional and Technological Education (PTE), based on the historical-cultural theory of Lev Vygotsky. The research is characterized as qualitative and bibliographic in nature, grounded in classical and contemporary works in psychology and education that discuss the relationship between thought, language, and human development. The findings indicate that language is not limited to a communicative function; rather, it operates as a cultural tool that reorganizes cognitive processes, enables the internalization of knowledge, and supports the development of higher psychological functions. It is concluded that pedagogical practices grounded in dialogue, social interaction, and problematization enhance learning and promote the critical, social, and professional development of individuals.
