This article sought to understand how Geography textbooks present specific contents and exercises related to the coast across different collections and grade levels. When this topic is addressed, it usually appears embedded within other contexts, such as Geomorphology. In this sense, the study analyzes the contents and exercises on the coast found in Geography textbooks used in Elementary and High School education. The research adopts a documentary approach and is situated within the context of qualitative research. The textbooks were obtained from a federal public school located in the municipality of Recife, in the state of Pernambuco, while others were acquired from a private educational institution in the same municipality, totaling four materials. The results indicate that the analysis of the four textbooks reveals a significant gap in the approach to the Brazilian coast, which is relegated to a secondary position, with scarce content and exercises, as well as limitations in image captions and footnotes. Furthermore, the absence of socio-environmental themes is notable, neglecting the relationship between human beings and their habitat, as well as crucial environmental issues.
