This theoretical-reflective article aims to analyze the main psychological issues that affect the daily routine of basic education teachers, identifying their causes, impacts, and possible coping strategies. Based on a literature review of national and international sources, the study identified several factors contributing to teachers’ psychological distress, such as work intensification, overload of responsibilities, lack of professional recognition, and precarious working conditions. The discussion draws on classical authors and recent research highlighting the growing prevalence of stress, anxiety, and burnout among teachers. It concludes that teachers’ psychological illness is a multifactorial and collective phenomenon that requires effective public policies, professional appreciation, and institutional care practices.
