Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into academia has driven significant transformations in the way knowledge is produced, particularly within research and higher education. This article proposes a critical analysis of the impacts of AI, especially Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) on scientific production and educational practice, based on the reflections of Miriam Goldenberg in The Art of Research. Through a qualitative approach, it explores how classical principles of scientific research intersect with the opportunities and challenges brought by new technologies. The study also discusses the historical evolution of AI, its different conceptualizations, and highlights the tensions between algorithmic objectivity and the subjectivity required by qualitative research. Tools such as ChatGPT are examined for their potential to support teaching, without overlooking the ethical and pedagogical limits of their use. It is concluded that AI can be an ally in expanding access and personalizing learning, but its use must be guided by an ethical, sensitive, and critical stance that values listening, empathy, and the educator’s role as an active agent in the construction of knowledge.
