This article is the result of a literature review focusing on the analysis of pre-selected scientific articles, with the aim of understanding the dynamics of conflicts in Brazilian public schools and deepening a positive view of them, as well as investigating the effectiveness of mediation as a peacemaker and guarantor of an education based on human rights. Despite the inevitability of controversy in life in society, conflict should be seen as an opportunity for growth and maturation with a view to social peace, and mediation is a skillful instrument for working on differences and overcoming them, avoiding the generation of acts of violence and collaborating with an educational project aimed at protecting human rights. After analyzing case studies in public schools in the state of Ceará, where conflict mediation projects were implemented between 2017 and 2019, the benefits brought by the practice of mediation were verified. The results of the research show that mediation is an effective way of resolving conflicts in the school environment and, if properly implemented, has a relevant role to play in pacifying relationships and providing quality education, free from prejudice and aimed at training true subjects of law.
