This study consists of a literature review on manifestations of bruxism in children and adolescents with Down Syndrome (T21), who present several alterations in their neuropsychomotor development, including dental interest, requiring a multidisciplinary approach. The objective of this research is to understand the etiology and manifestation of bruxism in children and adolescents with T21. For this purpose, a narrative literature search was conducted using books and scientific articles in journals available on the internet. The results indicated that children and adolescents with T21 have three times more posterior crossbite compared to typical children and adolescents. Bruxism is present in over half of the children affected by T21, and patients with T21 show significant numbers of oral comorbidities. The causes of bruxism in children and adolescents with T21 are not fully elucidated in the literature. At the end of the study, it was possible to verify an association between daytime bruxism and T21 resulting from multiple factors. However, further research is needed on the causes and manifestations of bruxism in this syndrome.
