TERRITORIAL PLANNING FOR LAND USE AND OCCUPANCY MANAGEMENT IN MOZAMBIQUE- LEGAL ASPECTS

Abstract

Urbanization, the growth of suburban neighborhoods without the support of basic services linked to spatial planning, internal migratory flows, among other factors, have challenged governance and society as a whole to face new realities. The disorderly occupation of land, caused by the increase in demand for housing, has been one of the factors that contributes to the degradation of the environment, a fact that is notorious in Mozambique, and in this context, the present study aims to discuss land use planning. in Mozambique, presenting the legal presuppositions of this matter, in a country that observes urban growth without following the current legislation. It is intended to bring awareness to the leaders in the sense of being attentive to the process of occupation and use of the land so that this process is monitored based on the current legislation. To carry out the present study, bibliographic and documentary research was used, and the results show that the country has a very strong legislation that could meet the territorial planning processes and thus reduce and correct the errors of disorderly occupation of the land. Authorities at all levels of governance are called upon to monitor land occupation and use processes through the application of current legislation.
