This article aimed to demonstrate how eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, can cause body image distortion in adolescents—leading to low self-esteem and social withdrawal—and how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can contribute to their treatment. The methodology involved qualitative, explanatory research based on a literature review of articles published between 2017 and 2026 on platforms such as Google Scholar and CAPES, resulting in the selection of nine articles. The results indicate that CBT is effective in modifying dysfunctional thoughts regarding body image and restrictive eating habits, with cognitive restructuring serving as a key technique. The therapeutic relationship and multidisciplinary approaches involving psychologists and nutritionists are essential. Furthermore, the article highlights the importance of early diagnosis and CBT interventions in addressing eating disorders.
