This study aimed to propose solutions to increase the number of personnel available for operational duties without compromising the quality of administrative services, through the replacement of military police officers with civilian personnel appointed to commissioned positions for administrative functions within the Military Police of the State of Amazonas (PMAM). The research focused on administrative activities carried out within the Sectorial Direction Bodies. The study presents an overview of the institutional structure, mapping administrative tasks that can be performed by commissioned civilian staff, comparing the financial and operational costs between military personnel and civilian appointees performing the same functions, and proposing criteria for the recruitment of such personnel. The methodology adopted was qualitative in nature, with a bibliographic approach regarding the means and a descriptive purpose, supported by direct observation by the researcher. The results indicated that it is not necessary for military police officers to perform administrative (support) activities, and that their allocation to operational duties is more appropriate considering their training. Furthermore, the study highlights the potential to increase operational capacity by reallocating trained personnel to core policing functions while enhancing the professionalization of administrative services through technically qualified civilian staff.
