CONTEXTUALIZING THE CHALLENGES OF PSYCHIATRIC DEINSTITUTIONALIZATION

Abstract

The present work proposes to provide a brief approach to the history of madness, from Greek antiquity to the present day, covering the different places attributed to the sufferer of psychological suffering within society, in order to give context to the current difficulties regarding the implementation of psychiatric deinstitutionalization and its differentiation from deinstitutionalization. It also seeks to establish the differences between these two processes, through a narrative review.
