Abstract

The main purpose of this work is to analyze the amount of sugar in soft drinks sold in Brazil. Sugary drinks such as soft drinks are exploited for their added sugar and their impact on health. The research uses data from beverage products from a large Brazilian supermarket chain and nutritional information from manufacturers. Soft drinks are classified and analyzed for the amount of sugar per portion, 200 mL and 100 mL. The results reveal that the average sugar in soft drinks is high, with some brands containing significantly higher amounts. These high sugar levels can contribute to health problems such as obesity and diabetes. In addition, the review addresses the presence of artificial sweeteners in sugar-free products. The result is that the research highlights the need for awareness about the consumption of sugary drinks and the health risks associated with this habit.
