This study investigates the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and pedagogical innovations on the contemporary educational ecosystem, critically analyzing transformations in teaching praxis, students’ cognitive processes, and the requirements for continuing teacher education. The central issue is grounded in the tension between the accelerated incorporation of allocative and generative media and the persistence of passive instructional models, combined with the risk of methodological obsolescence and the erosion of educators’ epistemological authority. A qualitative methodological approach was adopted, applied in nature and exploratory-descriptive in purpose, grounded in bibliographic and documentary research and subjected to Content Analysis. The results indicate that artificial intelligence reorganizes pedagogical mediation by operating as a sociotechnical artifact within the Zone of Proximal Development, providing personalized support from the perspective of Universal Design for Learning. It was found that adaptive assistive technology reduces cognitive load and stimulates neuroplasticity in the prefrontal cortex, strengthening higher-order Executive Functions such as working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility. However, caution is warranted regarding the paradox of cognitive offloading, the opacity of proprietary algorithms, and discriminatory bias, factors that may foster intellectual passivity and deepen socioeducational inequalities. It is concluded that the future of education requires educators’ critical digital literacy, public governance of student data, and the unrestricted preservation of human, caring, and intentional pedagogical mediation.
