Abstract

Reverse logistics constitutes one of the main instruments supporting the National Solid Waste Policy (Law No. 12.305/2010) and represents a new paradigm in the management of materials, products, and waste in the context of sustainable development. Its objective is not limited to fulfilling legal requirements, but also to creating economic, social, and environmental value, favoring the transition from a linear model of production and consumption to a circular model. This article aims to detail the concept, structure, mechanisms, benefits, and challenges of implementing reverse logistics in Brazil, focusing on the production chains of electronic and electrical equipment, one of the most critical sectors regarding the generation of difficult-to-manage waste. The theoretical approach is based on the contributions of Leite (2003; 2009), Dias (2012), Lacerda (2002), and Guarnieri (2011), among other authors in the field of environmental management and supply chain. In addition to a systematic literature review, this study discusses the economic and socio-environmental impacts of reverse logistics, demonstrating that its efficient application directly contributes to the fulfillment of the UN's 2030 Agenda.
