Abstract

The increasing elderly population in Angola has led to a gradual rise in Alzheimer's disease (AD) cases, despite underdiagnosis and underreporting resulting from the lack of targeted policies and epidemiological monitoring systems. This study examined the influence of Brazil's health policies on the continuous training of Angolan professionals, focusing on the enhancement of skills for the care of patients with Alzheimer's. The research employed an analytical, documentary, and qualitative methodology, analyzing legislation, regulations, public policies, and academic studies related to elderly health, professional training, and dementia care. Findings indicate that Brazil has a solid system with strategies that ensure comprehensive care, support for caregivers, and continuous professional development. Conversely, Angola faces considerable deficiencies regarding legislation, resources, and educational initiatives. The evaluation demonstrates that adapting Brazilian experiences can strengthen professional training, promote humanized care, and reduce the burden on family caregivers, supporting dignified and quality aging. The study emphasizes the relevance of targeted public policies and continuing education initiatives to improve care for patients with Alzheimer's in Angola.
