This article reviews publications on Citizen Science in the context of controlling the Aedes aegypti mosquito, a vector of arboviruses such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. The review identified studies from scientific platforms such as the CAPES journal portal, the Virtual Health Library, and Web of Science, using specific terms that combine Citizen Science and Aedes aegypti, filtering only peer-reviewed articles. The results show the growing adoption of Citizen Science initiatives that include the participation of communities and schools in vector surveillance and control, highlighting the importance of social engagement for the effectiveness of arbovirus control strategies. Furthermore, the integration of these projects into educational environments contributes to hands-on science learning, promoting awareness and active participation in public health. The review also reveals a lack of studies on Aedes aegypti conducted in countries of the Southern Hemisphere, reinforcing the need for more research addresing community involvement in vector control in tropical regions.
