Continuing education plays a fundamental role in the professional qualification of teachers, providing opportunities for learning and development throughout their careers. This article addressed the benefits, approaches, limitations and recommendations to improve the continuing education of teachers. It was evident that continuing education has a significant impact on teaching practice, promoting the improvement of pedagogical skills and professional growth. However, it faces challenges such as lack of time, limited resources and technological barriers. To improve continuing education, it is recommended to identify clear needs, personalize training, promote collaboration, integrate training with practice, use active learning approaches, integrate technology, comprehensively assess and provide ongoing support to teachers. Investing in these strategies will ensure that continuing education is accessible, relevant and effective, contributing to the quality of education and student development.
