The present study has as its theme the importance of family and school in the learning process of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder until childhood, with the objective of analyzing sources, ways of working and public policies for their access and permanence in school regular. The theoretical basis research is based on laws and other documents, which resulted in a brief history of inclusive education worldwide and in Brazil, the family and school role in the educational process. In this perspective, it reaffirms the need for society to understand, recognize and accept human diversity, contributing to the construction of a fair and egalitarian education, providing them with a stimulus to their interactive capacities, preventing continuous isolation. The education of autistic children should prioritize social, visual, behavioral and routine skills so that they develop cognitively and socially, in addition to promoting the well-being of those involved in this process.
