Abstract

This article discusses the situation of education, health and rights in the Brazilian prison system, presenting results of a bibliographic review on the subject. The methodology consisted of analyzing scientific articles and official documents about the prison system and its aspects related to education, health and the rights of inmates. The results show that access to education is limited in prison, with few opportunities for academic and professional training. Health care is precarious, with a lack of professionals and adequate equipment. In addition, violations of rights are frequent, including torture, ill-treatment and neglect. These factors contribute to criminal recidivism and hinder the resocialization of detainees. The discussion points to the need for more effective public policies that guarantee access to adequate education and health, as well as the protection of the rights of detainees. It is still necessary to raise society's awareness of the importance of these issues for social justice and human rights. The final considerations highlight the urgency of effective actions by the Brazilian State, given the challenges and perspectives presented, to guarantee the resocialization of prisoners and reduce criminal recidivism.
