This text reports on the experiences of teacher trainees at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Goiás, Anápolis Campus, in the Chemistry Teaching program, who are part of the Research and Studies in Teacher Education and Environmental Education - NUPEDEA. It describes their experiences in the field with a community of small farmers and students from a rural school in the district of Joanápolis, in the municipality of Anápolis. The speeches refer to the process of transformation, causing changes in ways of acting and thinking provided by environmental education. The dialectic of relationships emerges in group discussions at NUPEDEA, based on the critical perspective of environmental education, capable of promoting changes in teaching practices and in the lives of people in communities. Additionally, it addresses initial and ongoing teacher education, which does not end with graduation but delves deeper into the possibilities and paths that research, education, and critique enable.
