Abstract

This article sought to discuss obstructive sleep apnea and one of its main keys: snoring, as well as the myofunctional alterations most found related to it, and the therapeutic methods used for its treatment, focusing on orofacial myofunctional therapy. Through the analysis of the literature, we were able to conclude this study that Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy results in a significant improvement in the number of respiratory arrests, as well as a considerable decrease in snoring and daytime sleepiness in the perception of snoring, quality of sleep and, consequently, quality of life of individuals with obstructive sleep apnea.
