Abstract

It is known that social isolation, caused by health measures in the COVID-19 pandemic, had potential consequences for child development. In this context, we sought to understand, with this study, the consequences of children's acquisition of socio-emotional skills in this context and to know those described as most affected by social isolation. Therefore, a literature review was carried out to find evidence that makes it possible to understand how the development of children's socio-emotional skills was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this sense, scientific references were searched in the journals CAPES, Google Scholar and Pubmed in July 2022. This search allowed the identification of 11 articles that met the eligibility criteria. In 70% of the articles, it was possible to observe that the mental health and well-being of children were affected, but in only 10% of the studies indicated the affected skills. Three competences were identified with losses: self-esteem, relationship with peers and emotional recognition.
