Abstract

The present research aims to highlight the students' difficulty and low performance in the Mathematics discipline, highlighting meaningful learning as a mean of ascending this learning process. Adhering to concepts of this approach, such a process would result in a solid mathematical knowledge capable of visualizing the integration between theory and reality, making the student the builder of his own knowledge. In previous studies published, theoretical bases were sought that could corroborate and attest the effectiveness of meaningful learning in mathematics teaching, culminating in promising results, evidencing the effectiveness that this approach produces in this process.
