Abstract

This paper used an intersectional perspective of gender and race, from the contributions of black feminist authors such as Kimberlé Crenshaw, Angela Davis, Nilma Lino Gomes, Lélia Gonzalez and Carla Akotirene, in order to expand the comprehension of the elements that produce these inequalities, especially in the school context. The text shows how gender and race interlace in the experiences of black women, making them experience a different form of oppression, as they are permeated by racism and sexism. It is also pointed out how this oppression form is often made invisible, inclunding the school environment, resulting on poor educational experiences for black girls and women, predestining them to a subordinate and informal position in the labor market. Finally, we highlight the importance of the school adopting an emancipatory, anti-racist, anti-sexist pedagogy, with more egalitarian practices, in an attempt to overcome these forms of oppression.
