Abstract

This work highlights the impacts, as well as the chronic health problems that impacted the nursing team and that led to the great crisis that the world is currently witnessing, two years after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, problems with recruiting and retaining nurses are a long-standing problem, compounded by professional dissatisfaction, often attributable to the heavy workload, the lack of autonomy of the various categories of nurses, as well as psychological overload and moral distress experienced by nursing professionals. This study showed that, although these problems are more intense during a crisis, such as the pandemic experienced, sustained attention would be needed to reduce the extent of what should be considered a chronic problem.
