The objective of this work is to analyze the permanent formation of teachers of basic education. As a theme, the continuing education of public school teachers was chosen, taking into account efficiency and effectiveness. The approach is necessary in an attempt to verify the offer, execution and appropriation of such training. Thus, it is intended to evaluate the way it has occurred and the results achieved especially by professionals working with the youth public. This purpose will be achieved from a bibliographic review, using works that deal with the subject, articles published in electronic journals such as: Scielo and Google Scholar, specialized magazines and books that deal with the theme. The methodology used consists of a bibliographic survey associated with the application and analysis of questionnaires with teachers who work in some public schools, to verify the forms and ways in which permanent training has been taking place. It has already been possible to verify and implement public policies aimed at meeting the demand of teachers. There are difficulties faced by teachers regarding the availability of time and resources to officially seek training. The need for training is visible in order to achieve the objectives determined in the educational legislation.
