This article has as its starting point the question «How do parents and guardians exercise their parental responsibility in monitoring the learning of students in the 9th and 10th grades at Escola Secundária Alfredo Namitete». A qualitative methodological approach was adopted, which is based on the analysis of the subjects' perceptions, collected by survey, which are sometimes also represented through the use of quantitative resources. As methodological support, the methods of document analysis and survey were also applied. The study had a socially differentiated sample, with a total of 320 subjects, distributed among different subgroups: 189 Students/Students from the 98th and 10th grade, 28 Class Directors and 103 Parents and Guardians. The sampling technique used to form the sample was convenience sampling.
