This article discusses the teachers' perception about the pedagogical practice in the discipline of religious education at the Municipal School Deputada Maria do Céu Pereira Fernandes in the municipality of Goianinha-RN. It aimed to reflect on the strategies used and how teachers see the development of the discipline in the classroom, since with the theme of religious education we must fight against religious intolerance, the deficient training of teachers for the discipline, in addition to the lack of resources in public schools. Thus, we sought to listen to teachers so that, through their perception, we could guide teaching plans and obtain better results about the assimilation of students on the themes of religious education. We base these perceptions in the light of theorists and documents that guide Brazilian basic education.
