This article sought to report the experience of carrying out a Popular Health Education (EPS) on the theme of climacteric and menopause with women in an oncotic cytology waiting room in a Family Health Unit in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte.. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, in the form of experience reporting. This was proposed by the curricular component Supervised Curricular Internship I, of the undergraduate nursing course at the State University of Rio Grande do Norte. The experience was lived in a Family Health Unit in a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte. The target audience of the intervention were the subjects, mostly women, who were waiting to undergo the cytopathological examination. The intervention took place in a light and participatory manner. The importance of EPS problematizing education is precisely these contrasts between science and experience. The process of promotion, prevention, cure and rehabilitation is also a pedagogical process, in the sense that both the health professional and the client-user learn and teach. The continuity of these educational activities is relevant, thus considering their importance according to the principles and guidelines defended by the SUS.
