Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Behavior Skills Training (BST) is a procedure that helps in the acquisition of different behavioral repertoires and in the teaching of skills, in view of this, it is proposed in this study to use it in subjects diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ) and other neurotypical disorders. This study is justified by the usefulness of the procedure and its relevance in different areas of knowledge, including education, health and related areas. OBJECTIVE: We sought to identify the challenging behavior, in addition, it was proposed to analyze the behavior, its functions, the functional assessment and to present the BST and its main components. METHOD: The present study was an exploratory bibliographic research, searches were carried out through different databases and research portals such as: Google Scholar, OpenSiuc, Behavior Analysis in Practice, Brazilian Journal of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy, Pubmed, Behavioral Interventions RESULTS : Several scientific evidences of BST were observed in the teaching of repertoires in different fields of knowledge and life contexts and the modest production of scientific knowledge in health and education, as well as being scientifically presented as an effective procedure for teaching new behavioral repertoires in subjects, both typical and atypical, its potential for resolution, efficiency and productivity was seen in different studies presented in this study. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: This study made it possible to broaden the view and suggest alternative interventions and reflect on actions aimed at training professionals for the management of challenging behaviors in children with ASD. Researching on this topic helps in understanding the various aspects involved in the professional's performance, realizing that it is necessary to expand studies and discussions on this topic that permeates different professional practices.
