Abstract

Starting from the relationship between work intensification and the process of professorial illness, the article examines the problem of academic productivism and the illness of professors in graduate courses. Academic productivity is the denomination of an overestimation of performance and a notorious disregard for the quality of the products produced by research and the training of future researchers. This qualitative text investigates how the academic segment in post-graduation courses interferes with the well-being of Brazilian professors. Therefore, this paper aims to understand the main impact of academic productivity on teacher health. Data collection includes a review of the literature on the subject and, for its appreciation, subject analysis is used. Research shows that academic productivism is damaging the health of Brazilian university professors, revealing that the main consequences are relevant and related to mental illness and excessive fatigue linked to Burnout Syndrome and Moral Harassment.
