: Qualitative, descriptive study of the influence of Portuguese ethnocentrism in Mozambique, which began in the fifteenth century with colonization, imposed Portuguese culture to the detriment of the Mozambican ancestral culture, inferiorizing the people and native culture, considering them uncultured, pagan. The creation of the official school became an instrument of literacy and colonial domination, imposing the Portuguese culture and language, aiming at the denial of the Mozambican cultures and religiosities. Objective: To analyze the influence of Portuguese ethnocentrism confronted with the ancestral culture of Mozambique. Result: It is essential to develop an education capable of understanding the multiple dimensions, the complexity of the Mozambican culture
