Abstract

The present study aims to identify research trends in studies on color as a physical phenomenon within the educational context. This research consists of a systematic literature review. The searches were conducted in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The corpus comprised a total of 35 articles. The results showed that, among the 35 articles, eleven addressed color as the main focus of study in relation to scientific teaching and learning (color in teaching–learning and science education), fifteen discussed color in relation to skin color with a focus on the formative environment (color, identity, and social justice), and in nine studies color appeared as a secondary element, functioning as a tool for analysis (color in the analysis of results). It is concluded that studies on color still require further approaches, indicating an opportunity to expand research by integrating social and cultural contexts with the aim of contributing to physics education.
