Abstract

The practice of physical exercise is fundamental to promoting a good quality of life. According to the World Health Organization, each age group, from children to the elderly, has a minimum recommended amount of hours of physical activity for their well-being (BULL et al., 2020). This project aimed to encourage the practice of physical exercise among young people aged 14 to 16 in a municipal school in Duque de Caxias – RJ, through a workshop on the theme of quality of life. Evaluative questionnaires were applied before and after the workshop to understand the lifestyle habits of these students and their learning and motivation to perform physical activities after the presentation made in the workshop. The data indicated that although there is a portion of physically active students, impediments such as lack of time and lack of will still hinder a more widespread adoption. Thus, teaching time management routines, as well as actions to encourage the performance of physical exercise, should be adopted to expand the practice of well-being and quality of life activities for this population.
