This article aimed to understand the role of the pedagogical coordinator as a transformative agent in the school environment by analyzing their responsibilities, the challenges inherent to their professional practice, and their contribution to the teaching and learning process. This is a qualitative, descriptive study developed through bibliographic, documentary, and field research. Data were collected through participant observation, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with pedagogical coordinators working in public schools in the municipality of Santa Maria da Vitória, Bahia, Brazil. The findings revealed that the pedagogical coordinator plays a fundamental role in coordinating pedagogical actions, promoting teachers' continuing professional development, and monitoring teaching practices. However, the study found that administrative demands and role overload frequently limit the effective performance of these pedagogical responsibilities. It is concluded that pedagogical coordinators have significant potential to promote transformation within the school environment, provided that institutional conditions support the full exercise of their pedagogical role.
