The current educational landscape is witnessing a true metamorphosis driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), which has established itself as one of the most impactful and promising emerging technologies in educational processes. The traditional classroom learning environment is increasingly mediated by digital resources; AI facilitates the monitoring of student performance, the personalization of teaching, and immeasurable support for the teaching profession. The primary objective of this work was to observe, through bibliographic research, the action and transformation caused by Artificial Intelligence in the educational field and the future that emerges from this, based on recent studies on educational technology. Our analysis indicated that AI can intensify and enhance the learning process, provided its use is intentionally pedagogical. The text is subdivided into two parts: the first discusses the challenge of the new role of the teacher, and the second addresses the definition of AI and the challenges posed by its use in the pedagogical context. Therefore, we conclude that Artificial Intelligence holds promise for innovation in pedagogical practice and the learning process, but public policies are needed to provide teacher training and ethical practices that ensure its responsible use.
