This study aimed to analyze the technical (Hard Skills) and behavioral (Soft Skills) competencies required of project managers by the labor market, relating them to the competencies recommended by the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide). The research is classified as applied, descriptive, exploratory, bibliographic, and documentary. Data were collected through the analysis of job vacancies published on LinkedIn for the Manaus region, focusing on project management positions. The findings revealed that organizations seek professionals with solid academic qualifications, project management experience, proficiency in technological tools, data analysis capabilities, and knowledge of risk, cost, and stakeholder management. Regarding behavioral competencies, leadership, communication, teamwork, negotiation, problem-solving, adaptability, and results orientation were identified as essential requirements. The comparison with the PMBOK® Guide demonstrated a strong alignment between market expectations and PMI recommendations, particularly concerning the integration of technical expertise, business acumen, and interpersonal skills. The study concludes that project managers’ employability depends on the balanced development of technical and behavioral competencies capable of meeting the demands of increasingly complex and dynamic organizational environments.
