The legal profession, as an essential activity for the administration of justice, has been marked by increasing professional demands that directly impact the mental health of its practitioners. The legal environment, characterized by strict deadlines, high workloads, and pressure for results, has been associated with an increase in cases of stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout syndrome. This article aims to analyze the impacts of mental illness on the professional performance and ethical conduct of lawyers, as well as to discuss strategies for promoting mental health in the practice of law. The research adopts a qualitative approach, based on a literature review of scientific articles, legislation, and institutional documents published between 2018 and 2025. The results indicate that caring for mental health is a fundamental element for efficient, ethical, and sustainable legal practice, highlighting the need for institutional policies and self-care practices within the profession.
