Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that profoundly impacts family dynamics, placing intense physical, emotional, and social burden on mothers. Given the centralization of care in the maternal figure and the weaknesses present in health services, understanding the nurse's role in supporting these women becomes essential. To understand the contribution of nurses in supporting mothers of children with ASD, based on scientific evidence available in the literature. This is a descriptive bibliographic review with a qualitative approach. The search was conducted on Google Scholar using the following descriptors: Nursing Care; Autism Spectrum Disorder; Family Care. Complete articles published in Portuguese between 2021 and 2025 were included, resulting in the final selection of 17 studies. The studies showed that mothers of children with ASD experience significant emotional overload, characterized by chronic stress, social isolation, professional renunciation, and psychological suffering. Social and professional support proved to be an essential protective factor for maternal health. Nursing demonstrated a strategic role in early identification of disorder signs, humanized reception, health education, and therapeutic bond building with the family. Weaknesses in professional training and public policies compromise the continuity and quality of care. Nursing plays a fundamental role in supporting mothers of children with ASD, especially in Primary Health Care. Strategies such as qualified listening, support groups, home visits, and Nursing Care Systematization strengthen comprehensive and humanized care. Investments in continuous professional qualification and integrated public policies are indispensable to ensure family-centered care.
