This study analyzes the impact of political appointments on the neutrality and institutional impartiality of the Judiciary in the composition of higher courts. It addresses the research problem of how politically influenced selection processes may affect judicial independence and public trust in court decisions. The objective is to understand the relationship between appointment mechanisms and their effects on judicial performance. A qualitative approach is adopted, based on bibliographic and documentary research, including the analysis of academic studies, legal frameworks, and relevant literature on the topic. The results indicate that, although political appointments are constitutionally established, they may generate perceptions of bias and affect the institutional legitimacy of the Judiciary, particularly when linked to governmental interests. It is concluded that strengthening technical criteria, ensuring transparency in appointment processes, and implementing oversight mechanisms are essential to preserve judicial impartiality and credibility.
