This article aimed to analyze the factors associated with the development of burnout syndrome among community health workers and its repercussions on the work and health of these professionals. This is an integrative literature review conducted using the Virtual Health Library and SciELO databases, including articles published between 2014 and 2023. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample consisted of six studies. The results showed an association between burnout, work overload, high psychological demand, and inadequate working conditions. Impacts related to emotional exhaustion, occupational stress, and reduced quality of life were also identified. It is concluded that burnout represents an important factor related to the mental illness of community health workers, demonstrating the need for institutional strategies aimed at promoting mental health and improving working conditions.
