Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the benefits of Artificial Intelligence in nursing practice, discussing its applications in patient care and the main ethical and structural challenges to its implementation. This is a descriptive integrative review conducted using databases such as SciELO, Google Scholar, PubMed, and indexed journals in the health field. The search terms “artificial intelligence,” “nursing,” and “health technology” were used, combined with the Boolean operator AND. Inclusion criteria considered articles published between 2020 and 2025, available in full, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, while exclusion criteria eliminated duplicate studies, abstracts, and works not directly related to the topic. The selection process occurred in three stages: reading of titles, analysis of abstracts, and full-text reading of the articles, resulting in 12 studies included in the analysis. The results showed that AI contributes to more accurate diagnoses, rapid interventions, and greater patient safety, in addition to supporting the Systematization of Nursing Care (SAE), optimizing workflows, and reducing administrative burden. However, challenges were identified regarding data privacy, the need for ethical regulation, and the preservation of the therapeutic relationship. It is concluded that AI has great potential to strengthen safer, more eficiente and humane, provided it is accompanied by professional training and appropriate regulations.
