Abstract

This paper presents aspects of leadership in the corporate environment and highlights the importance of conscious leadership for the fulfillment of the organizational mission. The progress observed in recent decades has led organizations to seek new forms of management in order to improve performance, achieve results, and meet institutional needs. In this context, managers must also assume the role of leaders in dealing with the people who work with them, motivating them in the workplace. To achieve the proposed objective, a bibliographic review with a qualitative approach was carried out. Managing people has become a specific mission, supported by the flexibility offered by strategies related to motivation, leadership, and new technologies. The study addresses the need for managers to understand the motives and needs that are important to each individual, considering that motivations vary from person to person. It also presents the role of leaders as an important element in organizational performance, acting as identifiers and communicators of collective values, providers of internal resources, and defenders of performance-oriented cultures.
