This article analyzes the actions of the Amazonas Military Police (PMAM) in combating illegal mining, through the lens of public security and human rights. Clandestine mining activity in the Amazon transcends the criminal sphere, reaching dimensions of environmental degradation and violations of fundamental rights, such as slave-like labor. Through qualitative and exploratory research supported by Discourse Analysis (DA), the study investigates how institutional and academic statements articulate the need for state repression with the protection of traditional communities. The results show that the operational effectiveness of the PMAM is conditioned by the integration of advanced technologies, such as SISFRON, and inter-institutional cooperation. It is concluded that the fight against illegal mining must balance the maintenance of order with respect for the constitutional principles of human dignity, transforming the corporation into an agent of socio-environmental protection.
