This article aimed to analyze the Educational Program for Drug and Violence Resistance (PROERD) in the State of Pará as a public policy for the prevention of alcohol and other drug use within the school environment, examining its institutional configuration, scope, and limitations. The study sought to contextualize the program within the regulatory framework of the National System of Public Policies on Drugs (Sisnad), describe its implementation in the state of Pará, and identify challenges related to management, monitoring, and intersectoral integration. The methodology adopted was qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive, based on documentary and bibliographic research. Normative documents, scientific literature on school-based prevention and public policy evaluation, as well as institutional records and official reports from the Military Police of Pará were analyzed. The data were organized through thematic content analysis. The results indicate broad territorial coverage and operational continuity of PROERD in Pará, highlighting the development of socio-emotional skills and the articulation among school, family, and community. However, weaknesses were identified in the systematization of impact indicators and outcome evaluation. It is concluded that the program has institutional relevance and preventive potential, but its effectiveness depends on strengthened monitoring, continuous evaluation, and pedagogical integration within schools.
